Operational Reliability Test
Introduction
Following for tests re used to test the operational state for the product. This deviates from environmental test in the areas where device is in operational mode under all tests. The simulates the active user scenarios where user experience is not impacted while device is subjected under various temperature/humidity conditions.
Tests Overview
High Temperature Operational
This test examines the device proper operation under high temperature environment. This test is done generally as a few long duration thermal cycles from room temperature to the highest environmental temperature condition.
The passing criteria is that there is no form of mechanical, cosmetic, electrical and functional damages to the device
Low Temperature Operational
This test examines the device proper operation under low temperature environment. This test is done generally as a few long duration thermal cycles from room temperature to the lowest environmental temperature condition.
The passing criteria is that there is no form of mechanical, cosmetic, electrical and functional damages to the device
Long Term Operational Stress Test
This test stress at realistic worst conditions such as 40C @ 90% RH such as a place in tropical region of the world.
The test performs hundred of hours of continuous operational of the device inside a test chamber. Stress test scripts and logs are used to monitor any abnormality in terms of product intended user scenarios.
Soak Operational Test
This test stress the operational state at realistic user environment such as 0C and 40C.
This test is conducted at each cold and hot test points for few hours (3-5 hours), and Stress test scripts and logs are used to monitor any abnormality in terms of product intended user scenarios.
note: the reason that test is only few hours is that because 3- 5 hours is an estimation of actual product usage time for users.
Summary & Conclusion
Device is operation and stress scripts and logs are used
Long term and short term stress test are performed
To ensure the ender product experience is guaranteed, it is essential to test at actual under user conditions.
